Drop a line in any one of the more than 1,400 area lakes, take a stroll through the historic State and National Forests, float a canoe along the peaceful rivers, or listen to the call of the loons from the water�s edge or deck of your lake home or cabin. Northern Minnesota offers a variety of outdoor recreational activities or, if you prefer, privacy and relaxation. One of the many great things about the Edge of the Wilderness Area and Northern Itasca County is that it�s removed from the everyday hustle and bustle associated with larger communities.

The Chippewa National Forest has over 300 miles of canoe trails, 180 miles of hiking and biking trails, and more than 2,000 known historical sites. The Chippewa National Forest is home to the largest breeding population of Bald Eagles in the lower 48 states.
